About the Author

My name is Kate, and I am an avid outdoorsperson who hails from Vancouver, Canada, located on the traditional unceded territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tseil-Waututh First Nations peoples.

Growing up, living, and working in this beautiful part of the world for most of my life has afforded me many opportunities to get out and explore – primarily on foot.

Hence, the name of this blog:

west coast. noun. referring to the west coast of Canada, a place sandwiched between the sea and the mountains, which I hold near and dear.

wayfarer. noun. a traveller, especially on foot.

My love of the outdoors and interest in travel has taken me on some truly incredible adventures, inside and outside of my own country’s borders. I lived and worked in New Zealand for just over a year between 2019 and 2020, so it is a particularly special place for me. In addition, I have been lucky to explore parts of Southeast Asia, Central America, and Europe. I hope that I can share even more international adventures when it is safe to do so; in the meantime, I am focused on documenting past trips as well as more local adventures.

The aim of this blog is to provide a blend of practical information and personal anecdotes that might help you plan your next outdoor adventure.

Please feel free to get in touch or to leave a comment! I look forward to hearing from you.
